Cape Canopy Tour FAQ's

There are various options available, the easiest place to check and see which will suit you best is on our booking page. https://www.canopytour.co.za/book-now/cape/

The tour lasts approximately 4.5hrs for a full group. It is possible to be slightly quicker, but we like to allow time for our guests to enjoy our beautiful mountain.

The easiest is to check the availability and make a booking online. https://www.canopytour.co.za/book-now/cape/

Yes please! We do arrange your guides specifically for your tour time, so if you arrive without a booking we may be fully booked for that time slot. It’s safest to check online, and book in advance

Unfortunately not: your pre-payment confirms your booking. This is because non-paid bookings tend not to arrive, and because we need arrange staff for your tour. But we do however offer a 100% refund to our direct bookings, no questions asked, up until 24hrs prior to your tour time

Up until 24hrs prior to your tour time, we offer a 100% refund to clients that book directly with us. Please note that if you purchase a tour through a third party or agent, you are bound by their cancellation policy.

We don’t have a maximum age, the guest just needs to be able to do the 1km walk up and out of the mountain. So far, 93 is the record! A free tour if you can break the current record!

We take children from the age of 5. Our guides are able to take these children tandem with them. Please note that we have two guides per tour, and are therefore only able to offer two tandems per time slot.

We are able to offer 2 tandems per tour time, to ensure guide and client safety we can only offer tandems to guests who weigh less than 50kg.  Please be sure to advise us via email at zipline@capecanopytour.co.za, if there will be any children under the age of 9 years on your tour so that we are able to make arrangements.  (Note:  Our minimum age is 5 years old, and children aged 5-9 years will most likely need to do the tour in tandem with the guide).

Unfortunately not, if the guide needs to slow you down using the safety brake, we don’t want you and your child on the cable together. But our trained guides are great with kids, and they can go tandem together and show mom or dad how it’s done!

We suggest a weight restriction per person of approximately 100kg to 110kg – this restriction is not weight-related but rather imposed by the size of the harnesses we use and is based on the circumference of the straps around the body.
A reminder that this is an adventure activity so a moderate level of fitness, as well as upper body and core strength, is required to safely participate in this activity.

This is an adventure activity, and we recommend a reasonable level of fitness: you will need to hike for 1km up and out of the mountain after the tour.   A moderate level of fitness, as well as upper body and core strength, is required to safely participate in this activity.

Due to the uneven terrain, and small platforms along the way, we’re unable to accommodate wheelchair access. But otherwise, please do chat to us and we can let you know if parts of the tour may or may not be challenging for you; and how we can accommodate you.

Due to the space on our vehicles and waiting time on the platforms, we take a maximum of 9 people per group.

But no problem if you’re more than 9 people, we just split you into two consecutive groups and you follow one another through the tour.

Yes of course. You can book a private tour, and you’re welcome to bring up to 8 people on the tour. You are allocated your own guides and vehicle, and nobody else is booked on the tour with you.

No, the ziplining tour takes place at 1000m altitude in the mountain. You are transported high up into the mountains on our safari-style 4×4 vehicle for the ziplining, and then safely back again afterwards.

Our operations team does keep a close eye on the weather and will make a decision on whether we operate or not. If our operations team make the decision to cancel the day, we will offer to reschedule or refund you.

If the team decides that the weather is okay to continue operating and you decide within 24hrs not to do the tour, the usual cancellation policy will apply.

However if you cancel for any reason with more than 24hours notice, we will refund you 100%.

NB: Please note that our cancellation policy only applies to clients booked directly with us, and third party agents may have their own cancellation policies.

Please ensure that you bring warm clothes as the weather in the Cape can be unpredictable, especially up in the mountains. Bring comfortable shoes to walk in, as there is a short 1km hike out of the gorge, to where the vehicles will pick you up again.

Yes, you are welcome to bring a small backpack. This is handy to keep your phones, warm clothes or a bottle of water.

After the 2nd zipline, there is an opportunity to end the tour early. But after that, you are required to do the tour to completion.

We seriously love that question, because we are industry leaders in safety, and this sets us apart from the cowboys out there. Our system is checked daily, and we are regularly assessed by independent engineers, geologists, cable specialists and equipment professionals.

We are part of the African Ropes Course Association (ARCA), and we far exceed these safety requirements.

Have a look at this short safety video: https://youtu.be/GmZjzX7G6Io

Where conditions allow, our guides will take a few videos along the way.  These are then edited into a fun personalized souvenir video, which is emailed to each client for download after the tour.

Please note that this is a personalized video of each person, and not a group video.

For our loyal guests: if you’ve been on a paid tour with us before, keep your certificate and you qualify to come back for a (pre-booked) tour on your birthday!

As some flexibility, you can come for the free tour on your birthday or three days either side only.
Happy birthday to you….you deserve an amazing day hanging out in the mountains!
